Beth Taylor was appointed Chair of the UK National Commission (UKNC) for UNESCO by the Secretary of State for International Development in December 2016, having served as the Non-Executive Director for the Natural Sciences since 2011. In that capacity, she led for the UKNC on issues such as the formal recognition of Global Geoparks as a new UNESCO programme, the evaluation of UNESCO’s science priorities, and the annual L’Oréal UNESCO For Women in Science Fellowships in the UK and Ireland.

John Hughes FRICS took office as RICS President on 7 November 2017 and is a founding partner of Hemson Consulting Ltd. For clients mainly in the public sector, the firm provides a wide range of advice regarding urban and regional growth management issues including demographics, land use planning and development, and municipal finance. John was Chair of RICS in the Americas from 2013-16, and chaired RICS Governing Council’s Strategy Group from 2015-16.

Since 2007 Professor Templer has been active in the creation of initiatives to drive innovations combatting the causes and effects of climate change. In 2009 Professor Templer was part of a successful bid to the European Institute for Innovation and Technology to create a Climate Knowledge Innovation Community. In 2010 he became the Director of the UK arm of Climate-KIC and Director of Education for the whole KIC.

In 2009 Professor Templer was part of a successful bid to the European Institute for Innovation and Technology to create a Climate Knowledge Innovation Community. In 2010 he became the Director of the UK arm of Climate-KIC and Director of Education for the whole KIC.

Nirmala Rao

Nirmala Rao is a political scientist and former pro-director of Soas, University of London. As an expert on urban governance, she has extensive experience of public service and has served as an adviser to a range of bodies including the UK Audit Commission and the government of India. In February 2017, she will take over as vice-chancellor of the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Bangladesh.

Henry currently stands as an executive team member at 2degrees, the world’s leading community for sustainable business helping companies cut costs, reduce risks and grow by being more sustainable. Prior to this, Henry began in the Innovation Accelerator at Mars running the branded drinks business. From this he moved to manage retail strategy and execution for Twentieth Century Fox, before returning to Mars as a strategic marketing controller for the chocolate division. Lastly, he is a consultant to the World Health Organisation and mentor to start up enterprises.
